ROAD RUNNING
Central Gauteng Athletics will be hosting the last leg of the 2015 Cross Country league season this Saturday, 01 August 2015 which will be organised by Alberton Athletics Club. The event will take place at the Alberton dam with the programme commencing at 12h20. This league being the last league event of the season before the provincial championships, a great turnout of over 1100 athletes is expected.
This is a do or die event that will give athletes an idea on their chances of making CGA team that will be going down to Mpumalanga for the SA Championship on the 12 September 2015.
With just 2 weeks to the provincial championship which will be held on the 15 August 2015 in Boksburg Stadium, the cross country commission believes that our athletes have performed exceptionally well and this season has been a remarkable success.
Hope to see you in Alberton Dam for the league finale on the 1 August 2015.
CITY2CITY
Central Gauteng Athletics in conjunction with Athletics Gauteng North (AGN) and both City of Joburg and City of Tshwane have taken it upon themselves to organise and host the 41st City to City Ultra Marathon after it was cancelled last year due to the head sponsor pulling out. The race will take place 27 September 2015 from Pretoria to Johannesburg, same as the 2013 route.
Partners engaged and agreed that the race must take place this year, whether or not it does get a head sponsor. Working towards maintaining the standards of this prominent race, stakeholders involved have ensured that they be hands on in the planning of the event to make sure all technical aspects in order. The whole objective is to keep the spirit of the race intact for all who have participated in it and those who will participate for the first time.
City to City 50km Ultra marathon will start at the Gautrain station, Centurion heading to James & Ethel Grey Park, Melrose. The route is set to be the same as the one in 2013. The other two race distances are 21km and 10km which will start and finish at James and Ethel Grey Park. We anticipated a total number of 8000 participants.
The goal is to bring back the Gauteng’s most prominent race with a lot of heritage and to rebuild its credibility within its supporters. The race will go on.
Please visit www.entrytime.com to enter for the race.

FROM THE OFFICE…
Thank you so much to all our members and their guests for supporting Pirates on Saturday by taking tickets and busses to the Test at Emirates Airline Park.
The Club was so festive and definitely ‘The Place to Be’ on before and after the Test
To the staff at the Club – Jeanne and all her barman thank you so much for all your hard work and for keeping your sense of humour when things got a bit tricky, thanks to Pippa and Hayley for holding the fort when everyone was at the Rugby and all the running around before the game. Last but definitely not least to the cleaners who worked tirelessly to make sure the place was in reasonable order at all times.
This was a real team effort and as the Manager I was very proud of ALL the staff in making it a day to remember.
