ROAD RUNNING
Friday, 23rd October – Pirates Road Running Dinner/Dance and Awards Evening. If you haven’t booked your seat, why not??? This is going to be such a fun evening – full of laughs and awards. Not to mention the unveiling of the Comrades Board. I hope that everyone who can be there, will be.
Sunday, 25th October – President’s Handicap over the Pirates 21k route for the runners. As regards walkers, they will be doing the 16k route, which I think is a damn fine idea as, as David Case, said “It would be nice for people on a shorter route to still leave and finish in the same direction, as the best part of the handicap is wondering whether YOU have it right or the group behind or in front of you have it right”.
David has sent me the following link for the WALKING route (not running (well running and walking route)): http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/fullscreen/369743759/
At least we have a day to recover after the Awards Evening!!!
The basic rules behind this event are to start at whatever time you wish to start, with the intention of finishing as close to 09h30 as possible (on the 10h00 side – if you finish under 09h30, oops, automatic disqualification). Please wear club colours so we can stand out against the beautiful purple of the jacarandas and multiple colours of the bougainvilleas as we trudge, I mean gallop like gazelles around the Pirates half marathon course.
Tuesday, 27th October – last event in this year’s Camel Runners / Pathfinders Challenge – Club colours please. This will be followed by the section’s AGM in the Old Bones at 19h30 so please stay and have you say.
Wednesday, 28th October – Inter Club Time Trial Challenge, hosted by Chamber of Mines, at Marks Park. Again club colours will be required for this – mind you, they might be a bit yeuch from the previous night so maybe we can get away with just a Pirates t-shirt??? Distance – 5k – time 17h45.
