OLD BOYS CRICKET SIXES

BOWLS

A number of our players entered the JBA Pairs competition recently. We had four sides and two of them qualified to play in the last 32 which took place two weekends ago. Our successful teams at that point were Peter Xafis / Peter Moyo and Cavin Cornelius / Noah Mabula. To have reached the last 32 in this competition is an achievement in itself.

Sadly our other teams of Steve Hunt / Bob Kroon and Terry Dennis / Clifford Ledwaba were pipped at the post but we congratulate them on their efforts.

Last weekend saw both our remaining teams lose 18 –15 ( Cavin and Noah ) and 21–16 ( the two Peters ) respectively but they gave their highly respected opposition a real go as the scores imply.

This weekend sees four of our guys playing in the Randburg Fours competition and we wish them well.

Our greens have undergone extensive grooming recently and this, coupled with the usual mowing processes, has seen both of them receive high praise and top class ratings. We’re obviously very pleased with this as a lot of work has gone into the repair and general improvement of them.

 Let’s Get Rolling and Bowling!!!!

All we’ve got one of the finest bowls facilities in the land and we really want to drive more usage from all and especially newer non-traditional bowlers.

Magwitch (c/o Dave Case) has kindly offered to sponsor an Invitational Ladder tournament over the next 4 months to get us all in the groove.

There will be prizes for:
Top Bowls member
Top Pirates member outside bowls
Top Guest
Person who played the most challenges.

The idea is that we will have a blitz tournament on Sunday 8th May with lunch thrown in to establish a first cut ladder and then people can challenge their way to glory until September.

We will charge an entry fee and a green fee system will apply but our primary aim is throw the doors open particularly to our Pirates members and get everyone in the game. There’s plenty of fun to be had and new mates to be met!

Get involved!

TENNIS

Just a reminder to all junior tennis players that there will be no tennis for the next 2 Saturdays, 23rd and 30th April, due to various public holidays.

The next session will be on Saturday 7th May 2016.
