Here’s to a fantastic 2014 to all our members and their families. I wish you all a year of fun, laughter and love. I hope you all had a wonderful Festive Season and are well rested and ready for the great year ahead.
Pirates has had an interesting start to the year with losing a few TV’s whilst the Club was closed but all is good and the beers are still cold and members are still here and it is fantastic to see all our friends again.
FUNCTIONS/BAR MANAGER POSITION
We bid farewell to Dave Benn last year – Dave wore two hats at the Club one as the Maintenance Guy and the other as the Functions/Bar Manager position.
We filled the position for the Maintenance with Peter Fischer. Peter comes with lots of experience and he is looking forward to the challenge of keeping Pirates in good condition – we in the office also look forward to working with Peter and we wish him a good time with the Pirates Family.
We are however still looking for a Functions/Bar Manager person so if you know of anyone who could be interested and suitable please ask them to send an email to non@piratesclub.co.za The job description is attached.
2014 MEMBERSHIP FEES
The 2014 membership invoices will be going out to members today and Monday so watch out in your inbox for your invoice.
The Club is very pleased to let everyone know that we are offering two more categories of members for 2014 which are:
Family Membership – R2 250.00 per couple once off payment or R225.00 per month over a 12 month contract
Student/Scholar Membership – R700.00 once off payment or R84.00 per month over a 12 month contract. You must be a full-time student and under the age of 23 years
Please take advantage of these new categories and we look forward to getting some new members through this initiative
The Annual Membership for the Club is R1 400.00 as a once off payment or R140.00 per month over a 12 month contract
Country and Pensioners Membership (over 60 years old) is R700.00 as a once off payment or R84.00 per month over a 12 month contract
The Hockey and Squash Sections have additional Sectional fees but these are still to be confirmed asap.

AT LAST SOME SQUASH NEWS
Pirates has a very active Squash Section with both the Ladies and the Gents – if there is anyone who is keen to get involved in playing squash please contact the office on 011 646 5025 so we can get you playing as soon as possible.
We are very proud to announce that the Men’s 6th League won their league in the Gauteng Squash League. Below is a photo of the team with the trophy they so proudly won. Well done guys this is awesome and so good to have Pirates back with Silverware at Gauteng Squash.
Well done to Teddy Renieke, Benj Hunt, Mike Carlisle, Brett Crozier and Simon Tattersall – you guys did Pirates proud
SECURITY AT PIRATES
Crime around the Pirates precinct has spiked over the last few weeks. I therefore would like to appeal to all our members to be very vigilant and keep an eye out for any suspicious looking people around the Club. If there is anyone, anywhere around the Club that you are not happy with please ask the barmen to press the panic button and let CSS remove them from the premises.
We have got some car guards to assist us in the car park. They are Innocent (our groundsman), Wiseman or Fan Fan either one or two of these guys will be around the Club looking after your cars as best they can so please treat them with respect. Please can I ask that if the car park is not full to try and park as close to the Club House as possible as this is easier to control – thanks

PIRATES 21km ROAD RACE – SUNDAY 16th FEBRUARY
Please can you encourage all your friends to enter this great race.
All Pirates members are encouraged to help with the Road Race either with marshalling, manning the water tables or helping at the start or finish. Please offer your help if you are able to as the Running Section needs all hands on deck for this race.
