Mandela Day Jumble Sale, if you could include a short version of it asking for people to contribute to our jumble sale that would be awesome!

From the office

  • You can now tip the barmen with your membership cards.
  • If there is anybody keen to play league squash, please contact the office
  • With Winter having arrived we are focussing on the car guards who stand out in the freezing cold looking after our cars while we are having a great time in the Club
  • The Club does not pay our car guards a salary – they rely on tips from patrons
  • I know a few members have had problems but if we look at the big picture and the size of the car park – with no fencing these guys do their jobs
  • Without them there is no doubt the Club would have many more incidents than we do.
  • Please treat them respect as they deserve it

  • This week is Bongani
  • Bongani has been with the Club for a year as a Car Guard
  • He is 34 years old
  • Not married and no children
  • He has a matric from TTC in the Vaal
  • Bongani worked at Cape Gate in the Vaal and was retrenched
  • He then worked as a petrol attendant at a BP garage in Randburg – he lost this job due to new ownership
  • He really appreciates his job at Pirates as otherwise in his words “he would be hungry and cold and a beggar”

If anyone has a spare jacket that they do not use these guys would appreciate it so much as it gets absolutely freezing at Pirates in Winter in the dead of night?

BAR CLOSING TIMES

In line with the liquor act, the barmen have been instructed not to serve alcohol after 2am.

The bar will close if there are fewer than 10 patrons, last round will be called and the club will close 30 minutes thereafter.
