The Olympics have arrived and Pirates has all the channels for watching this wonderful event.  The Club will be open and festive for the Opening Ceremony tomorrow (Friday) at 10pm so come down win the R5 500.00 and have some dinner and watch the Opening Ceremony on the big screens around the Club. The Poms had a great week (phew I have been waiting for something big). Firstly the 2 Pommies who came 1st and 2nd in the Tour de France were born in Belguim and Kenya respectively (nice Poms they are) Then have you ever heard of a team being beaten in cricket by 18 wickets?  Well it happened at the Oval on Monday

The Club Draw is tonight in the Main Bar.  There will be fantastic Windhoek and Klipdrift Hampers to be won together with an attendance draw and then of course the Club Draw.  The first prize is R5 500.00, 2nd name out can win R2750.00 and the 3rd name out can win R1 375.00.  Come down and stand the chance of winning BIG.  There will be great drinks specials tonight BUY ONE REDS AND GET ANOTHER ONE FREE!! Buy one Hunters Dry in a bottle and get a Hunters Dry in a can for R10.00!!!

JUNIOR RUGBY FIXTURES AT HOME – FRIDAY 27TH JULY

The Pirates Junior Rugby players are playing their 1st league fixture for the 2012 Season at home against Union tonight. The 1st game kicks off with the U9’s and 18h00 – there will be rugby throughout the evening with the U18’s kicking off at 20h30. This is fantastic rugby to watch so come down – win the money and support the Junior Rugby boys.

SPORT ON TV THIS WEEKEND

Super 15 Semi Finals time and the Olympics what a way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The Old Bones will be open for the Stormers vs Sharks game on Saturday with the fantastic HD TV and the wonderful surround sound – the place will be festive and the atmosphere great. Kick off is at 17h00 so see many supporters at the Club on Saturday

Pirates Rugby away this Saturday to Raiders

The Pirates boys had a good weekend at home against Benoni with only the U21’s losing their game.
Results were:
1sts won  40 – 3
2nds won  59 – 5
3rds won  99 – 0
U21’s lost  38 – 13
U19’s won   29 – 8

This Saturday the boys are playng Raiders away.  Good luck and some support from Pirates would be most welcome. The 1st team game kicks off at 16h00 home.

PIRATES MEMBERS MAKE US PROUD

Marsha Marescia, the South African Women’s Hockey Captain who is a member of Pirates Club will be leading the Proteas in the Olympics.  The Club is very proud of Marsha and we wish her and her team all the very best of luck.  The whole country will be watching and supporting the team in their quest for a medal.

Our very own Alyna Wyatt (Chairperson of Hockey) is competing for Team Canada (in her South African socks) in the ITU World Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain on Sunday 29 July. The Race consists of a 4km swim, 120km bike, 30 km run.  All the very best Alyna we wish you a wonderful event and look forward to seeing you back at Pirates soon.

PIRATES HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMY

Pirates Cricket Club are holding a High School Academy for all inspiring young cricketers. This is held every Friday afternoon from 4.30pm at the Pirates Cricket nets The cost is R100.00 per Session. All boys are welcome to join in.  Please contact Roger Burne on 082 403 5294 for more information.
