Well done to the Road Running Section on organising a fantastic 21km Road Race last Sunday. It all seemed to go very well and we received so many compliments – bit well done for all the hard work.
I am sure many of you noticed how nice and clean the entrance to Pirates is looking – well this is all down to the hard work of Glynis Mauldon who spent the whole day working with the Pirates staff to get the entrance looking fantastic. Once again Pirates is doing the work of the Council but your hard work is greatly appreciated Glynis – you make us proud of our great club.

Unfortunately there is not a bus going from Pirates for the Lions vs Stormers game on Saturday but the office does have tickets available on the West Stand

Ultimate Athlete (UA) is thrilled to announce the opening of its 4th facility in Jo’burg at the Pirates Sports Club in Greenside on Tuesday 18 February at 18:00.
Ok so what is UA?
UA instructors provide group training that focuses on functional or compound exercises aimed at making you fitter, faster, stronger and more toned. We follow a block training schedule to limit the chance of injury and burn out. The focus is on exercise form to achieve speed, agility and power. You get faster, stronger and more agile by training with good form and in appropriate blocks to avoid injuries and burn out.
If you are looking for a fun way to ‘shape up and get fitter, faster and stronger’ in a friendly environment, come and give UA a try.

MINI HOCKEY STARTS NEXT SATURDAY
MINI HOCKEY – 2014
Mini Hockey runs from the age groups U5 to U13 and is for children born between 2001 and 2009.
Registration and first practice SATURDAY 1 MARCH 2014 from 9am to 10:30am
Those who register for the whole season receive a gift from Pirates.
The season cost is R900 (March to August), alternatively you can pay R60 to attend an individual session. Children are welcome to try out the first session for free. Please ask about the sibling discounts.
Practices will be from 9am till 10:30am each Saturday, running through till the end of August. Practices run during school holidays as we have private and government school pupils. No practice over the Easter weekend or other Public Holiday.
Uniform is available at the Pirates shop (Wear with generic navy shorts/skorts)
Tournaments will be held on various Saturdays between April and August.

JUNIOR HOCKEY – 2014
Junior Hockey is for U15 and U17 players (teens born between 1997 and 2000)
Registration costs R1200 for the season and uniforms can be purchased at the Pirates shop.
Training has begun and it was fantastic to see so many young girls and boys enjoying playing sport and having fun
U15 practices are Mondays 6pm till 7:30pm
U17 practices will start on Mondays 6pm till 7:30pm
No practice over the Easter weekend or other Public Holiday.
Matches will be held on various Friday evenings starting in April.
