Since 1977 — For All Runners, be they quick or slow.

Pirates Road Running welcomes all runners and athletes. Founded in 1977 as a section of Pirates Club we are a well-established and social club of runners of all abilities. The club boasts a proud Comrades tradition and a wealth of running experience available to any runner looking to reach their goal; be it their first half marathon, marathon or ultra; with weekly time trials and club runs. We also count an active walkers group, cyclists and avid trail runners among our members. Pirates hosts two races and three event club runs on the annual running calendar

Are you mad enough? Join our club run tonight and go OVER THE MOUNTAIN again! With the start of Comrades training, we'll be doing a slight variation of our Pirates21K powered by Medshield route tonight (Thursday) and a shorter 12km for those not wanting to go all the way.
- There are two starting times: 5.30pm for the gentler-paced mountain runners, and 5.45 for the faster runners as well as the ones doing the shorter 12km run, all starting from main car park at Pirates Sports Club, 25 Braeside Road in Greenside

- There is water at the 7km tap by the pharmacy and 15km by the cafe, so bring some cash.

- The cafe at 15km closes at 7 so if you miss it you may need to swing by the Engen we usually run past on the race route.

- It’s getting darker and cars sometimes speed through the tight corners in Northcliff so please wear reflective clothing and head torches.

- Take note that the route varies from the normal race route to ensure you have water on the way and avoid traffic hotspots.

- From now until Comrades we will do Over The Mountain every second Thursday and include a normal club run to coincide.
You can download the 21K training route here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/30653405 and the shorter 12km route here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/30653696. See you there!
