ABOUT PIRATES ROAD RUNNING

Since 1977 — For All Runners, be they quick or slow.

Pirates Road Running welcomes all runners and athletes. Founded in 1977 as a section of Pirates Club we are a well-established and social club of runners of all abilities. The club boasts a proud Comrades tradition and a wealth of running experience available to any runner looking to reach their goal; be it their first half marathon, marathon or ultra; with weekly time trials and club runs. We also count an active walkers group, cyclists and avid trail runners among our members. Pirates hosts two races and three event club runs on the annual running calendar
Interested in joining Pirates Running? Members of Pirates Club do not pay any additional fees to join the Running Section. Please complete the Pirates Club membership application at piratesclub.co.za/join and we will be in touch once your Pirates Club membership is finalised.

Our Pirates 21K Special Edition Powered by Medshield is unique in that we give you the option of running our 'Over The Mountain' route in your own time with your friends or your running club. At Pirates we have always referred to this iconic route as 'Over The Mountain' and have designed a logo to highlight the three major climbs you'll be scaling. These are 1st Avenue Linden, the smallest of the three; Cliffside Crescent in Northcliff (otherwise known as K1 or k*khuis 1); and Hearn/Rockey Drive in Northcliff (otherwise known as K2 or k*khuis 2). Together these add up to give you Joburg's Toughest 21 with about 450m elevation gain. So come Over The Mountain with us in February, get the t-shirt and earn your stripes. 🏅🏃🏽‍♂️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️ Enter at https://entrytickets.net/pirates21

A huge thank you to everyone who attended the annual Pirates Wobblers and Wigglers Hat Run, and to those who willingly gave up their entry to help us reduce numbers after President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement on Monday night. Please know your donation is going to a good cause and we will be in touch soon about saying 'thank you' properly. It was still a great day out and thank you to SMacPix for capturing the vibe. Check out the pics of the day on their website https://www.smacpix.co.za We hope to see you all back next year!🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️
