SU 4’s
- Pirates won the toss and chose to bowl on a carpet/concrete deck, after starting well and restricting Riverlea at the first drinks break, Riverlea accelerated and scored a massive 368 with Alessandro Ceruti taking three wickets as the pick of the bowlers.
- Pirates in turn got off to a shaky start losing both openers early on, a 50 partnership between Whitelaw and Butcher steadying the innings. Unfortunately there was a batting collapse and Pirates only managed to score 162.
- Pirates lost by 206 runs
PRESIDENTS XI
PREMIER LEAGUE XI
- Pirates bowled first on Sunday, but weren’t looking at their bowling best.
- Jeppe’s opening pair put on over a hundred for the first wicket with the aid of some rather average Pirates fielding. Jeppe ended on 301/5 over their 50 overs
- Key bowling figures:
- Kieron Rogers: 7 overs 2/42
- Pirates looked down and out at lunch with quite a few heads hanging low. Pirates got of to a stable start with the bat, after losing two wickets reasonably early Imeraan Fredricks and Matt Hardy steadied the ship. They put on another excellent partnership as they had done two weeks prior. No one had given Pirates much chance as they have a history of struggling with the bat. But after 40 overs Pirates found themselves on 201/4 and still in with a shout.
- Sadly the Pirates Prem side fell agonizingly short at the end, losing by a mere 6 runs
- Key batting performances:
- Matt Hardy: 84 (104)
- Imeraan Fredricks: 56
- Doug Gird: 42 n/o (28)
- Doug Guy: 27 (17)
- Well done Pirates for showing immense determination. Hard lines about the loss. This team definitely show signs that they moving the right direction and will undoubtedly keep improving as the season goes on.
