Good Day Pirates Members and Friends

What a party we had to Launch our 125th Birthday last Friday – thank you to EVERYONE who attended to make it such a great event.  Without YOU there would have been no party so a huge thanks to all the members for their fantastic support.  If that was the start of our parties I am certainly looking forward to the rest of the year!  Tonight is the Club Draw so hoping to see all our members who have paid their subs at the Club tonight and the others too for a drink.

THANK YOU – PARTIES DON’T JUST HAPPEN

The party on Friday night could not have taken place without the help of the fantastic committee and staff at the Club. Thanks so much to Barbs and Dave in the office for their hard work all week in making it such a success.  To the committee you were stars, thanks so Bridget Gunner who organised ALL the décor and the food, Glynis Mauldon for running around with anything we needed and for just being there, Jessie Bird for so happily serving the 125 shooter, Hylton Morby-Smith for being a fantastic host when our guests arrived and to Matt Purkiss and Andrew Mortimer for making sure the thirsts were quenched.  Without all your help guys and girls it would not have been such a good party – THANK YOU VERY MUCH

All eyes are on Bafana Bafana this weekend and the Club will be open on Saturday evening for everyone to come down and watch this all important match

PIRATES 21KM ROAD RACE – SUNDAY 17TH FEBRUARY

The Road Running Section has managed to secure their Nestle Water Sponsorship again this year and this promises to be a Road Race to remember. The section is hoping for record crowd.  This means they need lots and lots of volunteers to help them on the day so please offer your services by contacting Matthew Smith on matthew.smiley@ymail.com or phone him on 072 208 7110.

PIRATES BOWLS CLUB GOLF DAY

Pirates Bowls is holding their Annual Golf Day on FRIDAY 8TH March at Parkview Golf Club. The cost is R1700.00 per 4-Ball and we appeal to our golfing members to support this Golf Day. For more information on sponsoring a hole please contact one of the following guys:

PIRATES 125 BOOK we need someone to help

The Club is planning on producing a book for our 125 Birthday.  A very kind lady named Wendy Landau has offered to get the information together for this book.  She does however require assistance from the Club on layout, suggestions on content etc.  Please can a member offer his/her services to assist Wendy with this task.  Please contact Non to offer your service.

PIRATES CLUB AND VIRGIN ACTIVE VICTORY PARK

Brad Guymer from the Rugby Section has managed to secure a good deal for Pirates members to join the New Virgin Active at Victory Park. The cost is R389.00 per person for a 24 month contract and there is NO JOINING FEE. If anyone is interested in this deal please contact Brad directly on bg@luxco.co.za

CLUB ACTIVITIES

  1. The Welsh Males Voice Choir is performing at Pirates Bowls on Saturday 16th March.  R100.00 a ticket with snacks at interval.  This is a wonderful evening.  To book your seat please contact Barbara on admin@piratesclub.co.za A show not to be missed.  See you there
  2. Social Hockey is held every Tuesday at the Club from 19h00.  Everyone is welcome to join so please spread the word and come down and have some fun
  3. The Club is looking for Swimming teachers to help out on Monday and Tuesday mornings to help with Development coaching for Vuleka Primary School.  We are able to pay coaches with our Lotto funding so if you are able to assist please send Non a mail tonon@piratesrugby.co.za
