Good Morning Pirates Members and Friends

There have been so many holidays this week I keep forgetting which day of the week it is- hope you all had a good break and are ready to visit the Club again. We have our 1st Pirates Grand Challenge Rugby match on Saturday vs Diggers. Your support will be appreciated.

Thanks to everyone who attended the Club Draw last week – it was a bit quieter than normal but a good crowd anyway. Lethu Malimela’s name came out the barrel unfortunately for him he was not at the Club so the money goes up to R2 075 for the next draw. Next draw will take place on Friday 30th May

PIRATES RUGBY vs DIGGERS – SATURDAY 3RD MAY

Pirates Rugby play their first league fixture at home on Saturday against Diggers. This is a wonderful home derby to start the Season so we look forward to the support of our members at this game. The games will be played at the following times:

QUIZ EVENING AT PIRATES – FRIDAY 9TH MAY

Pirates will be hosting their very first Quiz Evening on Friday 9th May in the Main Bar. This evening is being sponsored by Faxe Beer and there will be money to be won plus many other prizes on the evening. Larry Benjamin from Quizwizz Productions will be the Quizz Master and it promises to be a fantastic evening of fun. Below is the poster with all the details

  2. Pirates ladies B: Sunday 14:15 at Randburg against MCC B
  3. Pirates ladies C: Sunday 17:15 at Randburg against Wanderers G
  4. Pirates Men A (Skulls) Sunday 12:45 at Randburg against Wanderers H
  5. Pirates Men B (Cricket side): Sunday 9:45 at Pirates against OJ Eagles D
  6. Pirates Men C (Rats) Sunday 11:15 at Beaulieu against Midrand A

This looks like a Pirates vs Wanderers show down weekend for 3 of our team with 4 of our teams playing at Randburg so get down to the astro and make it a day of hockey – supporting and playing.”

PIRATES BEER CLUB – THURSDAY 15TH MAY

The Club will be hosting their monthly Beer Club on Thursday 15th May. Everyone is welcome to attend this great fun evening.

This month we will be tasting Beers from De Garve Brewery and promises to be a great evening.

Details of the evening are as follows:

  4. Entrance Fee – R50 for members / R80 for non-members (includes light meal and tasting beers)

PIRATES HAS SOME ‘MAD2RUN’ MEMBERS

A group of 12 guys (many from Pirates Rugby) decided to run to Cape Town from Johannesburg in a 24 hour a day relay

AND THEY DID IT!!!

Well done to Rugby’s current coaches, Shaun Raaff, Derek Archer and Mark Ford for being involved in this fundraising venture. The guys have raised over R300k for the Charity called MAD (Make a Difference) which is Francois Pienaar’s charity. Have a look at the awesome photo’s of them during the run on their Facebook page.
