Hello Pirates Friends
Well this past weekend was a great unexpected success for the Club. Pirates hosted the Jozi Crafters Beer Fest on Saturday – this event proved to be very popular and the organisers had to turn many patrons away as they were full. Luckily for Pirates those ‘extra’ people came to the Club. The amount of people at Pirates was totally unexpected and the Club was crazy busy. Firstly I would like to apologise to any member who was inconvenienced in anyway on the day. The Club did their best to accommodate everyone.
Thank you to Dave Benn and the staff for stepping to the plate and just getting on with the job. To special members Roger Burne who saw the place was hectic and got behind the bar and helped serve for a couple of hours. Paul Vlaming thanks so much for your help. Paul drove all the way home to collect change for the Club as we were under pressure which is a terrible situation to be in. Thank you guys for being pro-active and helping the Club when we needed you. You have no idea how much we appreciate this kind of support. Many Bakos from the Kitchen – you were a star. Mands also saw we were under pressure and got behind the bar and served drinks for hours for us. Thanks Mands much appreciated.

UPDATE ON THE ELECTRICITY PROBLEM AT THE CLUB
I am sure many members are aware that the Club has been experiencing some electrical problems with black outs of certain areas. I thought I would let you know what the problem is. The club has 3-phase electricity and the red phase keeps tripping in the City Power sub station. We are not sure why so: Colin Barry has kindly loaned us a machine to test the loading of the phases to make sure we are not over loading the red phase therefore causing it to trip. Our electrician has been with some kind of instrument and checked the cables for faults – we cannot seem to find any. The office as reported a possible fault with the City Power breaker – maintenance calls to City Power take 7 to 14 days to be sorted out – so we await their call out. This is proving to be a process of elimination and we will get to the problem eventually. I would like to apologise if members have been inconvenienced in any way. We are pro-actively trying to sort out the problem

PLEASE BE VIGILANT AT YOUR CLUB
Unfortunately the Club is under constant threat of petty crime and car break-ins. The office badgers ADT to do their job properly all the time. I would like to appeal to all members to be vigilant and to report any suspicious people to the barmen or ADT so that we can make their lives very unpleasant at Pirates that they do not want to come back. Do NOT leave your bags unattended at the fields, around the Club House or in the change rooms. I realise and am very sensitive to the fact that at your Club you should not have to be so careful but unfortunately our location does not help our cause and we are constantly under threat.
