THIS WEEKEND AT PIRATES
This Friday we have the Pirates Schools Challenge this Friday from 1pm.
On Saturday we have Mini Hockey from 9am. The Hockey section are holding a fundraiser at 4pm in the bowls club.
On Sunday we have a Baseball match from 9am. We have social soccer from 9am and Junior Rugby practise at 2:30pm. Our Bowls Ladder Tournament commences this Sunday. We encourage all our members to enter.
BOWLS
The Old Parks Wednesday competition continues. We are the model of consistency in that we lost by 16 points to 9 for the third time in a row.
We’re all looking forward to the Pirates Bowls Invitational on Sunday which should be great fun. It’s a pity that the date clashes with a JBA tournament where some of our bowlers are involved as they were all keen to be involved. Never mind, whilst they’ll miss the Blitz all will play subsequent games.
We’re having our braai unit refurbished next week. It will be missing for the duration of the week but should come back looking brand spanking new.
COMRADES
We’d like to say a big WELL DONE to all our Pirates members that competed in the Comrades marathon last weekend. Pirates had 100% finish success rate and didn’t have a single person bail.Beni once again achieved silver and Yunis got his green number. 10 first time finishers (25% of the total field of 40)

RUGBY
Pirates take on Pukke this weekend in Potch. We wish them the best of luck.
A note from Brad Guymer (Rugby Chairman)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for everything you did to make Saturday a success at the club despite the numbers.
The club looked amazing and there is no doubt in my mind that there is no other club that can put on a show like that.
I received a lot of complements about the grounds, the field, the club house and the other facilities. Everyone was asking who painted the skull onto the field. Innocent you can be proud of the work your team has done so far.
The guests in the Quarter Deck where very happy with their day and full of praise.
To pull something like this off takes hard work and passion for what you do and it is clear that you all have it in buckets.
On behalf of the rugby boys I would like to thank you for everything.
SUPER 18 RUGBY
We will be showing the Super 18 Rugby games this weekend.
Junior Rugby Holiday Camps
Is your kid rugby mad? Are you looking for something for them to do in the holidays? Send them to the HPRC Holiday camps. We are catering for all their rugby needs, from skills development to fitness. With the focus on fun it promises to be an environment where they will develop their game.

BEER CLUB
Beer Club is resurrected
George Brink has arranged for Rob Stewart of Lazy Lizard Brewhouse to come and show off their beers on Thursday 9 June.
Lazy Lizard is one of the newest breweries in South Africa having only received their license in April. They are situated just over the border in North West 13 kms past Lanseria. They are a family friendly brew pub with meals served under the trees outside the brewery. Their location allows them to brew on site as North West’s liquor laws are not as stringent as Gauteng’s, so a visit to them will allow you to look over the brewery as well.
Cost R60.00 per head which will include a meal
Time: 19h30
Place: Pirates Main Bar
