Dear Pirates Family
We had a good weekend last weekend – although the rugby result was not ideal the members still managed to have fun and enjoy time with friends. This weekend we are hosting the 125 Cricket Weekend with games on Saturday and Sunday. Come down to the Club and watch some fun cricket with some great legends.
Cricket Celebrates the Club’s 125th Birthday
Barry Skjoldhammer has organised a fantastic weekend of cricket at the Club this weekend and the support of the members would be great. Tonight there is a Cocktail Party for all the players in the Old Bones. Saturday and Sunday are cricket games with four 15 over games on Saturday and two 15 over games on Sunday. Come down and enjoy a great time in the sun watching the men play. There will be Castle Beer Garden set up under the tree – much fun will be had and it is definitely worth coming down to see the guys in action.

Pirates Road Running Club lends a helping hand to Marang House. – Runners show the support for children
Extract from an article in the Caxton Papers
On 23 August, representatives from Pirates Road Running Club in Greenside visited Marang House to hand over a cheque with proceeds from their December 2012 Wobblers and Wigglers Hat Run.
Marang House was founded in 1998 by well-known Northcliff doctor, the late Pieter Ernst, to provide around the clock medical care to disadvantaged children ages four to fourteen suffering from chronic illnesses. The representatives of the club were pleased to pass on the R10 000 contribution as their visit to the home made them confident that it was going towards a good cause.
“We are lucky there are people that do this work,” said treasurer of Pirates Road Running Club Paul Vlaming on the work being done to ensure recovery for the children at the home. “We can be so selfish thinking about our own pleasures and forget that we can contribute to someone else.”
“We are very thankful for your donation. Donations give me all the right tools to be a mother to these children and to do my job giving them the care they need,” said matron of the home Salome Parkies.
“This is our community, this is where we run and some of us even live here, so we are glad to help those that welcome us,” said Sue McLaggan, committee member of club.
WELL DONE PIRATES ROAD RUNNING – WHAT YOU DO FOR THE COMMUNITY MAKES THE CLUB VERY PROUD
