Upgrades at Pirates
We have finally completed the deck area and have almost completed the outside bar. Come down soon and have a drink with us.
This Sunday
Bowls
We are very grateful for the new fence which is rapidly being erected around our premises and the perimeter of Braeside Road. It definitely makes a considerable difference when compared to the former very rusted or considerably missing eyesore.
Sadly we had a bit of a nightmare on Saturday against Old Eds who beat us by 12 1/2 points to 5 1/2. We have a break this weekend so hopefully we’ll have some time to re-charge our batteries .
Our Wednesday League side is doing relatively well and occasionally beats a team that is near the top of the log and who aren’t expecting us to shake them up. Luvverly stuff!!
Hockey
Tennis
Road Running
We have 10 days to go the Pirates 21km. This event is growing each and every year, and we expect another record field. In order to make sure that the event is run smoothly we are asking any Pirates member who would be able to assist on the day to please contact Road Running at racedirector@piratesroadrunning.co.za
We are also encouraging the fitter of you to partake in the event. It is a challenging route but we have yet to lose a Pirates member along it – must be that usual uncanny sense of direction that leads a Pirate back to the bar.
If you are on social media please link to the event for the Pirates21. If you can also please forward the attached flyer to anyone you know that may be interested in the race as a participant or a spectator. We are especially looking to get local residents, businesses, churches and schools involved.

UBUBELE NGO – HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Ububele is an NGO that focuses on improving the emotional development and well being of children under the age of 7, their parents and other caregivers. For the past 16 years, our work has centered on the promotion of mental health and has advocated for low-cost models of preventative care which are suitable for low-recourse environments. Located in Kew, our programmes are mainly conducted in nearby Alexandra.
In 2015, we opened the Ububele Umdlezane clinic situated at Alex clinic with the hopes of being more accessible to the larger Alex community. Our free services are made available to community members three days a week. Currently, we are in need of a refurbishing of the therapy rooms at our center. We hope to raise the funds through running a jumble sale on our premises at the end of the month.
Should you be willing to donate ANY items towards this cause and towards our organisation in general, we would truly value and appreciate your kind support.
Please drop off any household items, clothes, non-perishable food and furniture you are willing to donate by the 22nd of February. We thank you in advance!
Kindly contact Esther or Janeé on 011 786 5085 or Email us atestherhchunga.@yahoo.co.uk or janee.caboz@gmail.com.
Should you be interested in learning more about us and the work that we do visit our website at www.ububele.org, email us at info@ububele.org or like our Ububele Facebook page for updates.
