UPGRADES AT PIRATES
An update on last week’s progress. The fence around the Bowls and Tennis club is almost up. The entrance to the club is looking fantastic too. Come down and have a look.

SNR HOCKEY
Ladies Senior Hockey Trials will be taking place on Thursdays 28 January and Thursday 4 February @ Northcliff High School Astro from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
Senior hockey has already started pre-season fitness @ Pirates astro on Tuesdays 6:30pm to 7:15pm with social hockey on the astro afterwards as well as pre-season training @ Northcliff astro on Thursdays 7pm to 9pm.
March to August – men will practice on Wednesdays and ladies on Thursdays @ Northcliff from 7:30pm to 9:00pm (please note the later start time).
MINI & JNR HOCKEY
Junior hockey season for u15 and u17 will start with fitness at Pirates on Tuesdays 6:30 to 7:30 from 2 February 2016 and then starting the first week of March, Boys will practice on Wednesday @ Northcliff Astro from 6:30 to 7:30pm and Girls will practice on Thursdays @ Northcliff Astro from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Games will be on Friday nights and should start April/May. Junior Hockey will be coordinated by Héleen Ferguson Heleen.ferguson@aig.com
Mini Hockey starts on Saturday 5th March 2016 at 9am to 10:30am for Under 5 to Under 13. Mini Hockey will be using the current astro as well as the top fields @ Pirates for practices as most of the tournament are on grass anyway. Mini Hockey will be coordinated by Rob Mitchell Juniorhockey@piratesclub.co.za

Under 5 Children born in 2011 & 2012 + Mini Hockey – Saturday mornings
Under 7 Children born in 2009 & 2010 Mini Hockey – Saturday mornings
Under 9 Children born in 2007 & 2008 Mini Hockey – Saturday mornings
Under 11 Children born in 2005 & 2006 Mini Hockey – Saturday mornings
Under 13 Children born in 2003 & 2004 Mini Hockey – Saturday mornings
Under 15 Children born in 2001 & 2002 Junior Hockey – Boys -Wed/Fri
Under 17 Children born in 1999 & 2000 Junior Hockey – Girls Thurs/Fri

ROAD RUNNING
In order to foster a bit of internal competition, and hopefully help us all improve our times, we have started a Pirates Leader Board – this ranks each runner at Pirates in terms of times achieved at official events by doing some complicated arithmetic where the times over any distance are reduced to a common number. This is then the rank on the Leader Board.
The Leader Boards are attached.
The Leader Board will run from 1st October to 30th September each year – in line with our Awards – and will be updated weekly.

RUGBY
Senior rugby practices have started and are on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 18h00 for 18h30.
Junior rugby will start on the 18th April for all age groups.

We are so delighted that more and more of our members are using their membership cards to pay for drinks as it is alleviating our cash exposure.
I would however like to remind our members that you cannot pay cash onto your card with the barman as then we are defeating the objective of less cash.
