TENNIS
Message from our Chairman
Dear members
After the hectic but very successful start to 2015 with league, championships, launching our junior section and the AGM I am sure we were all very grateful for a few weeks of rest and relaxation. Having said that
it’s time to pick up the pace again and continue with our aim to make Pirates the best tennis club in Johannesburg and the country.
Time to head back to the courts!! Social tennis will be back to full steam ahead from this week and we look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday afternoon, Saturday afternoon or Sunday mornings.
The generosity of our members has blown us away again and we are so grateful for all the contributions for our new furniture which keep coming in. Watch this space…. it will be arriving any day now. Thanks also to
the volunteers who will be assisting us with organising sets on a Saturday afternoon once a year and those that are working with our junior committee on a Saturday morning. We so appreciate you giving up your time for the
club.

For the beer tasting in May we will be hosting Steve Gilroy from Gilroy’s brewery.
Steve Gilroy will take us through a humorous look at the myths, legends and secrets of beer. Learn how beer is created, smell the hops, taste the grains and explore the brewing process. Laugh and learn whilst enjoying all four of Gilroy’s Award Winning Beers. Many of you may have met Steve in the past before and can all concur that he is quite a character. He has warned us that the Gilroy ‘Beer Experience’ is for adults only and is not suitable for minors or the easily offended as it may contain colourful language and irreverence.
We will be tasting the four winning beers (tasting in this case is a full bottle of each) which are:
We have secured the Beer Experience at the very special price of R100 (it costs R120 to do the tasting at the brewery). Due to the pricing we won’t build a meal into the price but you will be able to order off the menu if you so desire. Because of the length of the tasting we will be starting at 19:00 sharp.
Details of the evening are as follows:
- Brewery – Gilroy’s
- Date – 14th May 2015
- Time –19:00
- Entrance Fee – R100 (includes 1.4l of tasting beers)
