ROAD RUNNING
On Sunday the 4th October the Pirates Road Runners bussed out to Orlando Pirates and joined up with some runners from Soweto and ran back to Pirates.
It was a fantastic event with all the Greenside Pirates and Orlando Pirates getting together for a braai and a few drinks at the Club.
This is a wonderful initiative from the Road Runners and long may it last
Below is a photo of all the runners outside the Orlando Stadium
A few walkers also took to the streets and they walked from FNB Stadium back to Pirates

We would really love to see more of our Pirates members down on a Sunday to support our Craft Beer Sundays.
As promised Pirates are slashing the prices of all their craft beers for Craft Beer Sunday and this will happen every Sunday whilst it remains popular – it is thus up to you to get your friends and family to join you for a day in the sun. There are lots of things for energetic kids to do around Pirates so make it a Sunday afternoon for the entire family, all generations.
As always we rely on your guys and gals to spread the word and we appreciate all your efforts in this regard.
We are looking for a free standing projector screen to use in our Old Bones and Pigeon House.
If any of our members have one that they can donate, that would be great.

TENNIS LEAGUE UPDATE – OCTOBER 2015
A Brief Update:
1. The August Mens and Ladies leagues have come to an end. Well done to all the teams who played. Of the four participating teams, two won, and two came second, a great result for Pirates! (details below)
2. Mixed league will be starting on 18 October 2015. The teams and fixtures will be communicated soon. Please note Mixed league takes place on Sundays from 08h30.
3. We are proud to be entering our first Junior U/14 league team! This league will take place on Sunday afternoons, also starting on 18 October 2015. More details from Rachel to follow shortly. Come support our juniors!
4. As you will have noticed we are busy resurfacing court 2. We expect the court to be available just before the start of mixed league on 18 October. Please do not use the court before then.
5. We will also commence the resurfacing of court 1 after mixed league, around mid/end November.
Howdie Hopheads
After a hiatus of a month we are back. Hopefully the taste buds are tickling and the thirst immense for the next PCBC evening.
This month we have spread our reach and managed to secure Benn Koppen, who are relatively new brewers based in the Eastern Cape. They have already established a large following down there, especially in the windy city, and are now looking to increase their presence within Gauteng – what better place to do that than the “home of craft beer”.
Due to the logistics of putting this evening together we have had to move the evening to a Wednesday night to coincide with a Gauteng trip of theirs. We are also going to be based in Pigeon House again as October a very bust month with World Cup and functions and we’ve managed to conflict with junior rugby prize giving.
So that being said here are the details for anyone that is not eligible for a prize at the junior rugby prize giving. (if you feel left out we can maybe make a PCBC award for you)
Details of the evening are as follows:
- Date – Wednesday, 21st October 2015
- Time –19:00
- Breweries – Benn Koppen
- Venue – Pigeon House @ Pirates
- Entrance Fee – R60 (includes a light meal and tasting beers)
Most of you have the hang of the electronic response mechanism so no longer a need to explain that it is simple and that it will take less than 30 seconds to complete:

Hopefully everyone has been supporting Craft Beer Sundays? R5 off the price of each and every craft beer, making Pirates the cheapest craft beer destination in the “Parks” and probably the whole of Joburg. The weather has been grand and there has been some decent sport on the weekends and this should continue with the RWC on the go together with a Cricket tour to India and the football season in full swing. Why go anywhere else?
Cheers
Non & Dave
