Dear Fellow Pirates and Friends
The Club Draw was fairly poorly supported sadly – I think we might have to re-think this concept but I was a very happy person as my name came out the draw 2nd and I was very fortunate to take home R1250.00 so it is worth attending the draw!!! The next Club Draw will take place on Friday 29th November and you can win R1750.00 – so diarise today!!
The word is out – Dave Benn has resigned from Pirates to take up another work option and will be leaving the Club on Friday 20th December.
We are obviously very sad to be seeing Dave leave as he came in overnight to help run the club back in 2009 and he has been a true Pirate ever since but he would like to start his own business and Pirates cannot get in his way with that.
Dave has two facets to his job the one being the Grounds Supervisor – this is a part-time position for preferably a gentleman who has retired but would like to earn some money and who likes working in the outdoors. If anyone knows of such a person please contact Non so that I can have a chat and advise what is entailed for the job.
PIRATES POJTIEKOS COMPETITION – TOMORROW
Dave is planning a great day at the Club tomorrow and I would like to encourage all the members to come down to the club.
The Bar will have the following specials at the Club for the Day
Buy 2 Castle Draught 500ml for R30.00 and stand a chance of winning tickets to the SAB World of Beer
Hansa Draught will be available for R15.00 per 500ml
Redds will be R10.00 each
There will be various promotions throughout the day and into the evening during the Springboks vs Wales game
PIRATES SPORTSMANS LUNCH – FRIDAY 15TH NOVEMBER
The Club is very sad to announce the passing away of Dave Board during the week – Dave was a staunch member of the Club for 45 years. We would like to encourage all the Rugby guys who went on the Argentinian Tour with Dave to attend the lunch as we are planning a reunion of this tour and to remember Dave at this time. Please contact Non if you would like to attend and we will sort the tables out accordingly.
Secondly, this is Steve Braham’s last lunch he will be organising for a while so please make the effort to be here to show respect to Steve for what he has done for so many years for the Club.

PIRATES SUMMER GOURMET FOOD, WINE AND BEER FEST – 16th NOVEMBER
Pirates is hosting a Summer Gourmet Fest on the lawns in front of the Club House.
This is a fantastic event for the whole family as there will be Sand Art for the Children and of course the famous jumping castle to keep them busy
- Copperlake Breweries, Keghouse Breweries and Smack Republic Breweries will all be here for the afternoon allowing our guests to buysome great beer
- We will have Iona and Whalehaven Wines to taste and buy and an Imported Italian Sparkling Wine called Prosecco – this is definitely worth coming down for!!
- There will be Gourmet Burgers, Gourmet Wraps, Breads and sandwiches from Vovo Telo and a few other great stalls
Pirates branded Wine Glasses and Beer Mugs will be on sale

PIRATES CRAFT BEER CLUB (PCBC)
PCBC are hosting SMACK! Republic Brewing Co next week Thursday 14th November 2013 at 7pm. Launched 10 March 2013, SMACK! Republic Brewing Co. is the only micro-brewery in Joburg’s inner city. They’re an artisan brewery born from the desire of 3 beer enthusiasts to create curious flavours and smash boundaries. The paradox between old city allure and new age inspiration is the heartbeat of what SMACK! represents: “Be different. Drink bold. Forge the future.”

TENNIS SECTION CELEBRATES OUR 125TH BIRTHDAY
The Tennis Section is organising a Pirates Tennis Classic on November 23rd and 24th to celebrate Pirates birthday!
This will be a Ladies and Men’s Doubles tournament with all the top players from Pirates participating
Club members are encouraged to pop across to the Tennis Section to watch some great tennis over this weekend.
