About Usicon rugby

Founded more than a century ago in 1888, Pirates Club in Greenside is the oldest sports club in Gauteng and one of the three oldest clubs in the country. Pirates Rugby Club is steeped in tradition.  The club aims to serve the surrounding community, and be a place for families to come.

Senior Rugby

A member of the top flight for many years, Pirates has developed the reputation of giant killers; the club regularly competes with and beats the top Varsity Cup teams of UJ and Pukke. Over the years Pirates has established an illustrious sporting record and has won a number of both the national and local rugby championships. The club caters for all players from u19 through to Old Boys who are referred to as the Madalas. Pirates fields three Senior Sides, one U21 side and one U19 side in the league. Practices take place at the Club on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 18h00.  Everyone welcome.
