Good Morning Pirates Friends
Thanks to all the members who firstly paid their subs and secondly who attended the Club Draw last Friday – we had a great crowd but sadly the money was not won by anyone. First name out the barrel was Brian Leask, losing R2 250.00 by not being at the Club Draw was Marc Van Olst and lastly Daniel Croft came out the draw and lost out on R1 125.00. That is indeed sad for them but next month the money is up to R5000.00 so we look forward to lots of subs coming in and many people at the Club Draw to be held on Friday 27th February.
The Club would like to welcome Val Osche to our staff. Val started working with us on Monday 2nd February as the Bookkeeper for the Club. Val will be working from 8am to 1pm every day. I would like to take this opportunity of wishing Val all the very best with the Club and I hope her stay is long and fruitful with the Club.
Can anyone help?
With all the load shedding taking place in the Country at the moment the Club will have to look at getting an inverter to keep the TV’s, Tills and Fridges going. If anyone has a contact or knows someone who supplies them please let the office know so that we can start pricing and getting ourselves organised.
AND
We are about to move into our office. Telkom should be around this weekend and then things will start moving. We will be looking for office furniture and chairs to furnish our lovely new office. If there is anyone who has contacts in this regard please let us know.
SUNDAY 15TH WILL BE A GREAT DAY AT THE CLUB
Pirates Road Running is planning a fantastic race on the 15th February. There will be fantastic children’s entertainment, wonderful music to enjoy under the trees at the Club and a great atmosphere for runners to enjoy. Please tell all your friends about this great race as it is definitely not one to be missed.
The race entry fee is R90 and new start time of 6am. There will be a number of food offerings and kids’ entertainment at the club on the day so maybe make a family day out of the event.
Anyone wishing to get involved can contact either Ainsley Williams (racedirector@piratesroadrunning.co.za) or David Case (dcase@magwitch.co.za)

PIRATES BEER CLUB – THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY
We promised not to let you down with the beers that have been submitted for the very first PCBC Style Series event, and we are glad to let you know that we’ve kept to our promise. At this late point we have lined up at least 5 light summer ales for your comparison to determine your favourite and try influence the stocking of the Pirates Bar with what you like.
We will be announcing the participating breweries and their beverages over a couple of emails to keep the anticipation levels high. That being said what you must all be wondering is who is going to conduct the tasting if the beers are all coming from different breweries. So without further delay your tasting host is Ian Jones of Global Beverage Solutions. Ian has been in the brewing industry for close to 30 years now and these days he spends his time training and developing aspects within the industry. You can almost picture him as the Professor of Beer!
Just a reminder of the details.
Details of the evening are as follows:
- Style Theme – Summer Ales
- Date – 12th February 2015
- Time –19:00
- Entrance Fee – R60 (one price for all for first evening) (includes light meal and tasting beers)
